Mouth odour is a very dangerous thing to have, because it gives you serious anxiety and low self-esteem, and with it, you can’t work or connect with people without them running away from you, you can’t build a proper relationship because your partner will always find it hard to come close to you and will find it nasty to kiss you.

A lot of people try to cure halitosis with gum, mints, mouthwashes, and other products that fight bad breath. But many of these products are only for short-term measures. That’s because they don’t address the cause of the problems. But in this post, I will be listing most causes and some practices that also cause mouth odour and how to get rid of it.

  1. The type of food you consume can make you to have a terrible mouth odour. For example, spicy foods, dairy products, garlic, onions, alcohol, acidic foods, sugar, herbs, and fish especially canned fish. Reduce the way you consume these meals mentioned here.
  2. Keeping your toothbrush in an enclosed air-tight area can cause the growth of bacteria on them, which will mean that when you’re brushing, you are installing bacteria instead of removing them. Always keep your toothbrush where constant fresh air can touch it.
  3. Make it a practice to always brush at night after eating everyday, also make sure you always scrub your tongue too alongside.
  4. Use toothpaste that focuses more on fighting tartar plaques and providing teeth whitening benefits.
  5. If you have tartar hardened plagues on your tooth rush and go visit a dentist immediately to have them removed. They are one of the major cause of mouth odour. ( tartar plague are those sticky yellow stains on your tooths that no matter how you brush you never wash them off, yeah that’s tartar plague only a dentist can remove them because it’s done with dentists tools.
  6. Smoking of tobacco causes mouth odour, especially when you don’t practice good mouth hygiene after smoking.
  7. Tonsils stones causes really bad breaths. This is due to infections of the mucus membranes around the tonsils and the production of pus. So if you have tonsils stones please go visit a dentist and have them removed, the smell of one of those things can make one collapse, now imagine you are carrying plenty of them at once that’s obituary standard oooh. Tonsils are located in the back of your throat (pharynx). Though they are part of your immune system, your tonsils are like lymph nodes. They help filter out germs that enter through your nose or mouth to protect the rest of your body from infection. But when they become big, they can cause heavy bad breath.
  8. Always having a dry mouth causes heavy bad breath too, having constant saliva helps cleanse your mouth by removing particles that cause mouth odour. Dry mouth naturally occurs during sleep, which leads to morning bad breath, and that’s why your mouth smells worse if you sleep with your mouth open. Constant dry mouth can be caused by a problem with the glands that produce saliva and by some diseases. So try to always have saliva in your mouth or always drink water to keep your mouth from being dry.
  9. Some medicines can also lead to bad breath by causing dry mouths. The body breaks down other medicines and releases chemicals that can be carried on your breath.
  10. Infections in your mouth like surgical wounds after mouth surgery, such as tooth removal, as well as tooth decay, gum disease, or mouth sores, can cause bad breath if not properly  taken care of.
  11. Diseases such as some cancers can cause a distinctive breath odour, too. The same is true for disorders related to the body’s process of breaking food down into energy. Constant heartburn, which is a symptom of gastroesophageal reflux disease, can lead to bad breath. A foreign body, such as a piece of food lodged in a nostril, can cause bad breath in young children.
